The Craft Hotel Ubud

Object No. TER-014
Studded Earth-Tone Terracotta Vessel
Physical Description:

A bulbous, gourd-shaped terracotta vessel featuring a wide, rounded body that tapers gracefully into a short, narrow cylindrical neck. The exterior surface is defined by a dense, rhythmic arrangement of hand-pinched conical studs, applied using the traditional Cubit technique to create a high-relief, tactile texture that envelops the entire form. The piece is left in its natural, unglazed state, showcasing a warm polychrome palette of raw umber and burnt sienna that highlights the elemental, sun-baked quality of the clay. This organic ornamentation draws inspiration from the rugged textures found in the Balinese landscape, emphasizing a primitive yet sophisticated artisanal aesthetic through the repetition of small, hand-wrought sculptural details.
