The Craft Hotel Ubud

Object No. WOO-003
Hand-Carved Wooden Duck with Spring Detail
Physical Description:

A hand-carved wooden avian figure, locally inspired by the Bebek (duck) often seen in Balinese rice paddies, mounted on a solid, semi-circular wooden plinth. The piece is meticulously shaped using the Ukir technique, featuring rhythmic, layered grooves along the wings and tail to simulate plumage while maintaining a smooth, rounded body that highlights the natural, warm golden-oak grain of the timber. A playful, modern element is introduced at the neck, which is bifurcated and reconnected by a tightly coiled black metal spring, allowing for kinetic movement. This fusion of traditional rural subject matter with an industrial spring mechanism creates a whimsical, bobble-style sculpture that balances the organic warmth of polished wood with an interactive, mechanical charm.
