The Craft Hotel Ubud

Object No. WOO-025
Anthropomorphic Frog with Bamboo Sculpture
Physical Description:

A whimsical, hand-carved wooden sculpture depicting an anthropomorphic frog in a dynamic standing pose, meticulously shaped using traditional Ukir techniques. The figure is shown clutching a long, diagonal green pole—reminiscent of a harvested bamboo stalk—across its torso, with its webbed feet firmly planted on a smooth, obsidian-colored river stone base. The body is finished in a vibrant forest green with chartreuse yellow underbelly gradients, accented by rhythmic rows of multi-colored Titik (dotted) patterns on the limbs that suggest the texture of amphibians found in Balinese rice paddies. With its large, expressive eyes rimmed in crimson and a wide, playful mouth, the piece captures a spirited, storybook character through disciplined brushwork and fluid anatomical carving.
