The Craft Hotel Ubud

Object No. TER-040
Inlaid Pearl-Toned Floral Mosaic Vase
Physical Description:

This hand-shaped terracotta vessel features a sleek, elongated ovoid form that tapers toward a narrow, integrated rim, crafted through traditional Pilin coiling. The exterior is defined by a sophisticated Mozaik treatment, where oversized, stylized floral blossoms are rendered using thousands of tiny, hand-cut glass shards in iridescent white and pale gold tones. These light-reflecting glass elements are inlaid against a smooth, metallic pewter-grey wash that serves as both the grout and the primary background color, providing a contemporary, high-sheen finish. The composition highlights the precision of the mosaic tiling, utilizing large-scale botanical silhouettes to transform a heavy clay base into a shimmering, architectural object that celebrates the intersection of Balinese hand-craft and modern, lustrous materials.
