The Craft Hotel Ubud

Object No. TER-016
Pearl-White Beaded Sphere
Physical Description:

A perfectly spherical terracotta vessel featuring a minimal, recessed rim and a short, narrow neck that emphasizes its rounded, celestial form. The exterior is finished in a weathered, chalky white wash that allows subtle sandstone undertones to peer through the porous surface. The body is adorned with a rhythmic, draped pattern of hand-pinched relief work, where delicate clay beads—applied using the Cubit technique—create interconnected swags reminiscent of ceremonial garlands or traditional Balinese temple offerings. This tactile ornamentation is arranged in symmetrical loops around the circumference, blending an organic, stone-like texture with a refined, rhythmic elegance that captures the light across its high-relief details.
